Earlier this month two important industry collaborations were announced that will advance transparency within the industry and interoperability of mixed fleet equipment.

In collaboration with other industry participants, AGCO holds leadership positions shaping the direction of AgGateway’s ADAPT project and is a founding member of the recently announced Agriculture Data Coalition, as well as a key role in the launch of a groundbreaking new industry tool called the Ag Data Transparency Evaluator.

About the ADAPT Project: 

AgGateway’s Ag Data Application Programming Toolkit (ADAPT) is a set of software tools designed to simplify field operation data exchange between different farm software and hardware applications including farm equipment  ADAPT represents a shared vision within the industry, and was developed by a large consortium of agriculture equipment manufacturers, suppliers and developers to address the broad needs of precision agriculture – including AgConnections, AGCO, AgLeader, Deere, SSI – Agvance, Trimble, and Winfield US, among others.

About the Agriculture Data Coalition:

  • The ADC’s mission is to help farmers better control and manage their electronic data and promote innovation and progress in the agriculture marketplace
  • ADC announced in a press event during the 2016 Commodity Classic that it will create a neutral, independent,  farmer-centric data repository where farmers can securely store and control the information
  • This repository will provide a privacy-ensured way for farmers to access markets, increase yields and profitability and ensure unrestricted access to their data, services and products
  • The coalition consists of farmers, universities, industry firms and ag technology providers working together to meet the needs of farmers

About the Ag Data Transparency Evaluator: 

A survey conducted by the American Farm Bureau Federation found an overwhelmingly large number of farmers do not know what happens to their data after they sign up to use new technologies. Based on these survey results, a concerned group of industry organizations and technology providers began a working group to address this issue. The first output was common set of privacy and security principles for farm data.

Recently, the group announced a new tool that will help farmers understand the key provisions in contracts regarding ownership, usage and sharing of agricultural data. This transparency evaluator tool analyzes contract terms and conditions based on a set of ten questions which allows producers to quickly and easily determine the answers to many concerns they have about their farm data. Products that go through the evaluator and are determined to meet the criteria, will receive a seal, certifying that they are “Ag Data Transparent.”

These are three of the most recent collaborations with partners and industry associations in which AGCO employees are leading the way, creating tools to make growers more successful.
