AGCO is committed to delivering high tech solutions for professional farmers feeding the world. In addition to developing advanced technology solutions for growers, AGCO is committed to supporting the precision farming industry as a whole.

Recently, AGCO was present when the Coalition for the Advancement of Precision Agriculture (CAPA) hosted its inaugural Precision Ag Forum on September 18, 2014, in Washington, D.C. The event was designed to educate and inform legislators, regulatory agencies and Capitol Hill staff about precision technology and its application on the farm.

AGCO’s Fuse™ Technologies precision farming offering was showcased during the reception. Legislative staff and others in attendance were able to see AGCO technologies in action by watching a dynamic video, which led to discussions about how AGCO technology helps farmers become more efficient and productive in their operations. These technologies allow growers to manage fields to a much higher degree making sure the most appropriate amount of seed, fertilizer and pesticides are used to get the most optimum results.

The Precision Ag Forum also included a panel discussion that featured growers and leaders in agricultural equipment, crop inputs and conservation with topics covering trends in precision agriculture, big data, variable rate technology, guidance systems and soil testing and conservation.

Leif Magnusson, President Claas of America presented some of the latest developments in precision agriculture from a number of the AEM member companies, including AGCO’s TaskDoc® and AgCommand®. Another important topic was data privacy. With the industry focus on data privacy, the AGCO approach to separating machine data and agronomic data provides an additional level of control to customers related to their data.

Rep. Adrian Smith (R-Neb.), the co-chairman of the Congressional Modern Ag Caucus, was in attendance, in addition to the following panel members:

  • Karen Scanlon- Executive Director, Conservation Technology Information Center
  • Ryan Kuster- Precision Ag Specialist, Ag Enterprise Supply
  • Betsy Hickman- Communications and Membership Manager, Field to Market
  • Denton Schwiesow, Raven Industries
  • Justin Stoneman, Stoneman Farms, LLC.
  • Leif Magnusson, Claas
